Townhouses in the City

I was walking in the city a week or two ago and I saw these interesting townhouses. What attracted me was the color and the fact that the heights interchanged between the buildings. But I guess what really got my attention is the fact that it is surrounded by taller office buildings. That's what happens when you live in a city, I guess!

What is Black & White, Can Also be White & Black

A colorless photo using the Desaturation method on Photoshop.

A colorless photo using the technique of Black and White in Photoshop.

Is the difference between these two different methods in making a color photo into black and white, noticeable? I can't...

Playing With Colors

Red AutoBalance

Auto Color Balance

Original Photo

In this entry, I tried to show the different color balance between the original photo, auto balance, and auto red balance by using photoshop. You can clearly see the difference between each of the photos.

Lucky Bamboo

I like this photo because of the shadows that are created not only by my lucky bamboo plant but by the microwave and fridge. Another thing to point out is the single black stone, located near the stem of the plants, in the glass vase. I think it adds contrasting element to the photo as well.

At the Computer

So yeah. I don't know what to post today as I just got out of a meeting and grabbed dinner at Subway. Here I just took a picture of my computer as I am logged into my gmail and stacks of people's applications that I have to read/look over. As a former Orientation Advisor and as a graduating senior, I was chosen/asked to be a part of the Selection Committee. As a member of this committee I have to read applications and interview future members of the OA staff.

Wintery Evening

One of the trees nearby the Pryz look lonely and bare as the snow fell all around it. I have to admit it was difficult to keep the camera still as it was freezing and I had no gloves.

View Point from McDonald Hall

This is what I can see from my dorm hall, McDonald. You can see the Kane Fitness Center with Flather and Ryan Halls in the foreground. Behind Flather you can start to see the skeleton of the new dorm hall, Opus. Every day, the view changes as the construction goes on further.

Architecture in Dupont Circle

I was walking around Dupont Circle today and I saw this building that mimicked the architectural style of Daniel Burnham. I tried to get a closer picture of the detailed design of the facade and I was impressed how the architect of this building put a modern twist on an "ancient" architecture style. It was as if the original building, which can be found in Chicago, was transported to DC.

The Pryz

I was on my way to lunch and I decided to take a picture of the Pryz. Although it's not a place for appetizing meals, I have to admit that architecturally, it's a beautiful building (from the outside). What I like about it is the fact that it is mainly made up of glass and steel beams. It's as if it is completely light and airless.

Meet Capitol Ted

I decided to take a photo of my teddy bear, that my boyfriend made for me. We named it Capitol Ted because first, I love Capitol Hill and being an intern, it was fitting and second, the name of Ted comes from Patrick's dog, Teddy. The reason why it's wearing Shamrock boxers is because my boyfriend is Irish. The first shot I took of it from afar and the second, I tried to focused in closer to show the texture of the "fur".

Sunset

I took this photo this afternoon. I liked the silhouette of the buildings and trees that was caused by the sunset.

What's On My Desk

From where I am sitting (which is in the vicinity of my desk) here's what I see. My politics books all held by a book stand and my (awfully tall) coffee mug from Starbucks and a framed photo of my boyfriend and I. This time I tried to use a different ISO level of 400 and with only the windows open (no lighting at all). I was quite surprised about the quality as it was not that bright but the photo came out well!

After A Day Working on the Hill

After a day working on Capitol Hill, my friend Ashley (top picture) is excited to show off her work as she spent nearly the entire day reorganizing the supply closet. We also decided to take a picture together (center) and as we left Longworth House Office Building, the US Capitol bid us farewell as we headed home!

Walking Away

This photo was taken outside of Hannan Hall as I was on my way back to my room. I tried to capture a candid photo by taking it behind the subjects and without their knowing. Anyways, what I found interesting is the fact that they both were carrying bags, which kinda mirrored their action.

Capitol Mural

This painting can be found in the ceiling in one of the hallways of the Capitol. It depicts the US colonies during the time of the American Revolution.

Deadlines, Deadlines Everywhere

I am currently facing deadlines; everywhere I go, I things are due. On one hand, I have law school applications due during the span of March--April. However, on the other hand, I have papers and random assignments due for other classes. Other than that, my life is full of deadline and various items of the sort. That's why it's important to stay cool under pressure or else I'll crash and burn.

Crystal Light

I was visiting my boyfriend, who was in studio all day on Saturday after I took the LSATs, and what caught my attention was this plexi-glass sculpture that was created by using laser cutters. It was used as a decorative fixture in the main hallway of Crough. The reason why I loved it is how the light entered into the room and was intensified by the plastic.

Sweet Suitemate

This is my suitemate, Jane. She is a junior media studies major and is from FL, like me! She is one cool girl. I used a different ISO setting (400) to take the shot and it actually came out accurate, especially the colors/lighting.
